Coming Soon — Bikes (and More!): Chester County's Active Transportation Plan for Public Rights of Way

Posted May 21, 2026

Chester County is continuing its efforts to create safer and more connected transportation options for residents and visitors with our latest planning effort Bikes (and More!): Chester County's Active Transportation Plan for Public Rights of Way — anticipated to be completed in early to mid-2027.

With over 2,500 miles of roadways in Chester County, only a handful of them accommodate bicycles and other mobility devices. Through the Bikes (and More!) or 'BAM! Plan' for short, Chester County municipalities will be able to identify future networks of on-street facilities that can safely connect cyclists, pedestrians, and other mobility option users to various amenities — town centers, businesses, trails, recreational areas, and more. The plan will address e-mobility options & policies, safety, education, design standards, maintenance, and budgetary requirements toward implementation of these active transportation facilities.

Right now, we're hosting an online survey to help us better prepare for the plan (Bikes (and More!) Plan Survey. En Español.) The plan's inventory and analysis phase will be completed in mid to late summer with conceptual plans being developed this Fall.

An online, public kickoff meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10th at 7:00 p.m. Registration is required and will be available on our website.

To stay up to date with the plan's progress, visit the BAM! Plan webpage for updates, meeting notices, and other project details.
